Services Provided By The Emanuel Congregation Brotherhood

The Brotherhood considers it an privilege and an honor to serve some of the needs of Emanuel Congregation.

There is a tradition for some of these services that reaches back to the beginings of the Brotherhood.  We are always considering new services and currently have some that are in the development stages.

Services:

1.   Organization and implementation of the ushering for the High Holidays.

The ushering corps for the High Holidays at Emanuel consists of between 60 to 70 individuals that provide many services for the Congregation.  Greeters stationed outside to help direct people to the right locations or services needed.  Ticket takers continue the greeting and directing of people once they are in the building.  Greeters at the sanctuary doors continue this process as people enter to find seating.  Santuary directors help all find seating and maintain decorum in the sanctuary.  And there are others as well, both up front and behind the scenes that help make sure everyone feels welcome, conformtable, and assist as needed the staff and clergy.

2.   Organization and implementation of the Second Night Passover Seder.

The Second Night Passover Seder is both an event and a service.  We are delighted to underwrite and organize a great Passover Seder that is open to both Emanuelites and freinds of Emanuel.  It is also the major fundraiser that provides the means for the Brotherhood to offer camp scholarships to Emanuel children.

3.   Bar/Bat Mitzvah Gifts

Starting this year, the Brotherhood is honored to give to each Bar and Bat Mitzvah a Kiddush Cup.  We wish each mazel tov and hope that they will have the chance to use their cups to celebrate many happy occasions.

4.   Confirmand Gifts

The Brotherhood has had the honor to present to the Confirmand each year a gift in honor of their accomplishment.  Starting this year, this gift will be the book Gates of the Seasons, published by CCAR Press.  This is a comprehensive presentation of all the holidays on the Jewish calendar.  We are happy to add this book to the growing Jewish library for each Confirmand and we wish each of them Mazel Tov.

5   Underwriting of the Food for the Youth Group for the Purim Carnival.

The Senior Youth Group organizes and runs the Purim Carnival each year at Emanuel.  The Brotherhood underwrites the purchase of the food for them.  Congratulations to the Senior Youth Group on their outstanding efforts.
